you are heading for septic repairs soon

One of the most frightening things about being a septic system owner is the prospect of needing to handle a repair someday. When properly pumped and maintained, a septic system can be largely ignored, but when neglected, a septic repair will crop up and demand to be fixed in the most unpleasant of ways. Here at Averett Septic Tank Co Inc., we want to give you a few ways to clue into your septic system warning you that you are heading for septic repairs soon! Here are a few things to watch out for:

  • Overly green or lush plants/grass around part of your septic system. This usually indicates that things are either overflowing or not being properly broken down, thereby leaking a lot of extra fertilizer into your lawn. Good for plants, but bad for your septic systems.
  • Foul odors emanating from the drains. Even though foul odors coming from the bathroom are something that can be expected, when your bathroom isn’t smelling fresh and hasn’t been in use for a while, something is up. A septic repair might be on its way.
  • When a septic tank isn’t drained often, the waste and wastewater need to find a way out, and often these items will simply turn around to where they came from.
  • Pooling water around your lawn. A flooding lawn is normal after a rainstorm. A flooding lawn by portions of your septic system, however, indicates a septic repair is needed.
